Rodent Infestation Forces Ollie's Bargain Outlet in Greensburg to Close Temporarily

The Ollie's Bargain Outlet in Greensburg has temporarily closed its doors after a recent inspection by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture revealed a severe rodent infestation. The inspection, conducted on February 24, found evidence of rodents in multiple areas, including droppings and urine.
Customers who arrived at the store on Wednesday were surprised to find the doors locked. One customer, Mike Todaro, expressed his surprise, saying, 'I was out for a walk and just thought I'd stop by, and I saw that they were closed. I was a little surprised.'
A video shared with KDKA-TV by an Ollie's customer showed mice inside the store, near a box of potato chips on a shelf. The video sparked concern among viewers, with one person asking, 'Did you see it?' and another responding, 'Yes. Oh my gosh, it's right there.'
This is not the first time the store has faced such issues. An inspection report from August 2025 revealed that the store was in violation due to the presence of rodents in the birdseed area. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has stated that the store must remain closed until all pests are eliminated and the facility is thoroughly cleaned.
The department's report emphasizes the importance of addressing the infestation to ensure a safe and healthy environment for customers and employees. Mike Todaro hopes that the store will resolve the issue promptly, saying, 'I hope they get it all worked out.'
KDKA-TV attempted to reach Ollie's for a comment but did not receive a response by Wednesday evening.
This incident highlights the potential health risks associated with rodent infestations in food facilities. It serves as a reminder for consumers to stay vigilant and for businesses to prioritize pest control and hygiene to prevent similar situations from occurring.
