A recent chargesheet filed by the Crime Branch has shed light on a sophisticated embezzlement scheme involving three employees at a jewelry store owned by Diya Krishna, the daughter of a prominent BJP leader and actor. The case has raised eyebrows due to the alleged theft of a substantial amount of ₹66 lakh, and the involvement of a husband in the conspiracy.
The chargesheet names Vineetha Juliette, Divya Franklin, Radhakumari, and Adarsh as the accused. The investigation revealed that the employees and Adarsh conspired to siphon off funds over two years. They allegedly used a clever tactic, displaying QR codes of their personal bank accounts to customers instead of Ms. Krishna's, effectively redirecting sales proceeds into their accounts. This scheme was particularly successful when Ms. Krishna was absent from the store.
The investigators uncovered that the stolen funds were used to finance a lavish lifestyle, including the purchase of gold and vehicles. The case initially came to light through the Museum police, who then transferred it to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
Interestingly, the employees have filed a counter-complaint against Mr. Krishnakumar and his family, alleging abduction, threats, and harassment. This complaint was made shortly after Mr. Krishnakumar and his daughter reported the alleged embezzlement to the Thiruvananthapuram City police. However, the police have found the allegations against the actor's family to be less substantial, and the inquiry is still ongoing.
