Alan Currie, an Ayr specialist, has launched Anxiety Aid International, a new charity dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with anxiety. With over three years of planning and experience working with anxiety-prone individuals in South Ayrshire, Currie aims to bridge the gap in support services through education, awareness, early intervention, and practical resources. His efforts are particularly timely, as anxiety is affecting more people than ever, while many support services face significant pressures. Currie's journey began with the publication of 'The Rucksack You Carry', a trilogy that introduces a simple concept: anxiety as a natural response from a nervous system that has learned to stay on guard. By breaking down this complex condition in a clear and relatable manner, the books help readers understand what's happening inside their minds and bodies. However, Currie recognized that one book was insufficient to address the depths and patterns of anxiety, so he wrote a trilogy. The creation of Anxiety Aid International is intended to work with existing support services and develop its work across Ayrshire and beyond, providing additional support and education to help people better understand anxiety and improve their wellbeing. Currie's passion for helping others is evident in his words: 'This is a significant milestone, but for me, it represents the beginning rather than the finish line. What began as an idea, a vision, and a desire to help more people affected by anxiety has now become a reality.' He continues, 'As someone who has spent years working with children, young people, and adults affected by anxiety, I have seen first-hand the growing impact it is having on individuals, families, and communities. Anxiety Aid International has been created to help bridge that gap through education, awareness, early intervention, and practical wellbeing resources.' The charity's mission is clear: to help people better understand anxiety, reduce its impact, and realize that there is hope, help, and support available. Despite the challenges, setbacks, delays, and hard work behind the scenes, Currie remains committed to making a difference. He states, 'If we can help even one person feel less alone, more informed, and more empowered to move forward, then we are making a difference.' The official registration of Anxiety Aid International on the Scottish Charity Register marks a proud moment for Currie, but he emphasizes that this is only the beginning.
